At last, an ESL book that informs, educates and challenges, November 4, 1998 - Reviewer: Timothy L. Wahl from Los Angeles, CA USA
I've taught all levels of ESl for a dozen or so years, and have found most books in this area to be excruciatingly dull, one-dimensional and at best condescending to non-native English speakers. I can't begin to tell you how good (relieving?) it is to teach from Milada Broukal's Weaving It Together, book 3. Not only do my students truly enjoy the stories, which are extremely well-written and contain a potpouri of topics, but they benefit from a wide range of activities taking them from pre-writing to revising. This superb book, for anyone teaching an advanced level skills class in reading and writing, gives students a paradigm to emulate while at the same time egging him or her on to better writing with interesting readings and useful, enriching activities. |
